House Renovation Part 2

Wood Flooring

Here comes another update of our house's renovation. My hubs has been quite interested to have wood flooring for our rooms. So we went on to get contacts and research about it. We came across a few company but this particular company is what most people recommended - Jia Yee Corporation. In short JYC.

We went to their shop and we are interested in their INOVAR Floor wood, 8mm. After much consideration, we have decided to let them do our business. During that time, HomeDec Penang is around the corner. So they advise us to lock down during the fair to get better and cheaper deal. For the time being, they can go and take the measurement of our home first. So we agreed.

These are some of the option and one of the price range from the shop. It could varies from time to time.
Other than the price of the wood, there's other charges as well, which include profile end, profile adaptation and altering the door.

At first we would like to do it for all the rooms, but at last we have decided to only do for our master bedroom. The price quoted before the fair is RM 2k+ for the master bedroom. During fair, the price is RM 1k+.

It took them about half a day to fix up one room. Here's the end product.

Indeed they have special price during fairs. I would encourage you who are interested to grab them during fairs. And as far as I know, they will only participate in HomeDec in Penang, which only held twice a year.

We are happy with what we get. You could drop by yourself to know more.

House Renovation Part 1

Renovating a house is definitely no easy job. It can be an anxious and stressful process under certain circumstances. However, I believe all could agree that after we have gone through this process, we will surely gain extra knowledge about renovating a house. It will all be worth it to prepare the best HOME for now and future.

My hubs and I bought a condo unit in Penang 3 years ago and now we are undergoing the renovation. We have done some research and would like to share some good contacts in Penang.

Plaster Ceiling

Our unit is about 1200sf and we decided to have plaster ceiling for the whole house. My hubs’ colleague has recommended us to this person, Ah Huat as his house was done by him as well. So we did. After a few sessions of meetings and comparing quotations (with another contractor), finally we agreed to let him do our plaster ceiling. Let me share some pictures of the process.

Surprisingly, they worked very fast and completed within 10 working days. The total cost for the plaster ceiling is RM 4k+. It’s the toilet’s ceiling which cost the most. For the toilet’s ceiling, we use this material which is called CT Woods. CT Woods are made from plastic and rice husk. They are water resistant, termite free, fire retardant, durable and maintenance free. So we thought it will be ideal to be fixed in the toilet. And it looks very nice! For 2 toilets, it cost about RM1k+.

They have done a great job and I would recommend you to look for him if you are surveying people to do plaster ceiling. Good things are meant to be shared!
