How to apply China Visa?

It has been almost 2 years since my last visit to China. My last Visa was arranged by travel agent but this time I have to do it myself for my trip in July 2015.

HOW???

FOR PERSONAL (VACATION)

1) First, confirm you trip (book your flight / hotel) before submitting your application because you need these support documents:

Original Passport (without passport cover)
- 1x copy of flight e-ticket (round trip)
- 1x passport size photo (To be attached on Page 1 of the application form)
- 1x photocopy of your passport (2nd & 3rd page which shows your particulars & signature)

- Hotel booking confirmation (I have prepared this as backup, but the reception told me either flight OR hotel booking will do, my advice is just bring it along IN CASE they need both)

NOTE: If you forgot to photostat your passport or bring the passport size photo, they have a kiosk to provide the photocopy and photography services. (with charges)

2) Fill in the application form ONLINE or MANUALLY.

ONLINE - Fill in the form in their website, print out and sign.
MANUALLY - Download the application form and fill in manually.

You can download the form from here ---->  Download Visa Chinese Application Form

OR some people will choose to fill in their form at the center (as shown below)

If you are helping 3rd party to fill in the form or other person is filling out the form for you, please make sure declaration is made in Part 5 (page 4).

3.1 Submitting Application (At Level 5)

Once you are there at level 5, go to the reception counter just right at the center facing the entrance, there will be 2 or 3 staffs there to attend you. Just give her/him the documents and inform the purpose of visit = holiday. (Visa category = L)
They will have a quick check whether you have fill out the form correctly and support documents are sufficient.

After that documents will be returned to you & you will be given a waiting number, there are many comfortable couches around for you to sit down and wait. Once it is your turn, you will meet the visa officer at the respective counter to submit the documents. They will check it once again, if everything ok, they will issue you a "Pickup Form", please keep this form safely with you as you need it to collect your original passport + visa.

For regular application, it will needs 3 working days to process, therefore you can collect your visa on the 4th working days after application date. Total is RM 88.30 including GST.  (You may check the details for EXPRESS and RUSH application in No.4 section in this blog)

Want to make sure your application is approved?
Check your application status via their website: Click ---> STATUS

3.2 Collecting Visa + Payment (At Level 6)

This is entrance of level 6, exactly the same as level 5. Show the reception counter your pickup form and they will issue you a waiting number.

Screen showing your waiting number and counter to approach

There are 2 types of counters, your waiting number will direct you to the payment counter (32, 33, 34) for payment first, then you proceed to the collection counter (35, 36...) by showing them your payment receipt.

The visa copy normally will be attached at the latest page in your passport.
Tax invoice & receipt will be issued upon full payment. If you are paying for more than 1 person, you can request for separate receipt if you want to. Please check your visa particulars before you leave.

4) Fee & Charges:

If you are China frequent travelers, do apply for multiple entries. You may try to apply for 24 months, I got it approved for my last application back in 2013  :)

Additional Comment:

Business Trip? For those having business trip to China, I realize that more documents are needed for the visa application. They need invitation letter from China counterpart, letter from your company to proof that they are sending you to China for business visit, accommodation booking confirmation, contact person in China (to be filled in the form). Maybe it is easier to select "Tourism" as your purpose of visit. It's up to you!

Parking? Don't want to park inside Hampshire building? If you are coming with someone, just park at the roadside (Outside the building) if nobody occupy the space, and wait for you in the car. (If not mistaken, the space can occupy about 3-4 cars) Submitting form or collecting visa won't take you so long unless a lot of people are going there on the same day with you. :)

It was raining just now, sorry guys, I'm not able to take a clearer pic to show you the place.

If it is raining during your visit, there is a drop off place in front of the building entrance. After drop off, driver has to look for somewhere to park :)
