Malaysian Passport Renewal @ Immigration office Kelana Jaya

This is my first experience with the Kelana Jaya Immigration Office to renew mine and my parent's passport. We slept so early yesterday just for the purpose to wake up early this morning as we got to know from others that people will start queuing up from 6am ++ ! Not saying we are "kiasu" but we are trying to go home early so that we still can have some time to prepare our lunch at home.

We managed to arrive at about 6.40 am and you can easily find a parking space inside the building. Parking rate is RM 2.20/hour. It's about 3mins walk from the indoor parking to the immigration office which is at the corner of the other end.

Here you go (photo), few early birds were queuing up, and more early birds came after and there was already 40+ people before the office is opened at 7.30am.

Notice board message: There is no special lane for senior citizens/baby during weekends.

At about 7.20 am, the security guard came out and hand over the form for us to fill up in advance. It is very efficient and time saving! And the guard did a wonderful job as well by arranging the people to go in to the office by batches. (About 10 people at one time). It's very organized.

Once you are in, you will submit the form & show your MyKad at the reception to get your running number  :) As my parents both are senior citizens, they got a different running number, which starts from 2001 onwards. Mine was 1010.

It's quite fast that my number was called after 25mins. The officer is very friendly and you just need to tender your old passport and MyKad for processing and verify your thumbprints as well. After that officer will request you to pose for a photo, which the camera is just on your left :) The process just took me few mins, everything done at 8.08am.

After that, wait for your running number to be called again for payment processing at the counter 3 and a receipt (Resit Rasmi) as below will be given. The officer will advise you to come back for collection after 1 hour. You can see there's a batch number stamped in "RED" (102).

Here's the fee: (Valid for 5 years)

RM 200 - Adult
RM 100 - Senior citizens (60 years old & above), children below 12 years old, and students below 21 years old with proof to study abroad.

Counter 1 & 2 are allocated for passport collection. The respective officer will call (shout) the batch number (stamped in red on your receipt), eg: 101, 102...just wait for your batch to be called and the officer will collect your receipt and prepare the batch of the new passports for another colleague. Just wait for your name to be called.

Once you have collected your passport, double check if all your particulars are correct.

No more queue when we left at about 9.30 am. But inside the office was actually quite crowded, and some went to mamak for drinks/meal to spend their 1hour waiting time. There's a malay restaurant just beside the immigration office, where we had our drinks while waiting, cost us RM 6.70 for a teh tarik, cham, and kopi.
