Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo

I'm not aware there's Korean version of Scarlet Heart (步步惊心) until I saw my friend share the picture on FB last few days. It makes me look forward to how the producer would attract viewers by not only the handsome actors, but the story itself.

Renew Malaysian passport online

Malaysian passport can be renewed online started from 1st of September 2016. 

4 states and 2 urban transformation centres (UTC) has been chosen as part of a pilot programme to issue passports which is renewed via the "MyOnline Passport" system. 

Service would be available at the Immigration offices in Pahang, Sarawak, Penang, Putrajaya, Pudu Sentral, and Galleria@Kotaraya Johor. 

The renewal can be also done online via mobile phone, and you are required to choose any of the passport issuing counters to collect your passport. For example, you online application is made in Seremban, but you may collect it from Putrajaya. 

I believe with this online application system will help to reduce the congestion at the immigration offices. I remember once my friend told me he started to queue at one of the office in Petaling Jaya since 5am but still have to wait for 4 hours to get the running number. If this programme runs well, I hope the immigration department will open more counters in other states a.s.a.p. 

Few things can be done via "MyOnline Passport" system 
- Update details 
- Upload photo 
- Making payment (via debit / credit card) before collecting the passport 

I have just renewed my passport in May 2016 @ Kelana Jaya Immigration office (Click here for details). Looks like I will be using this system only after 5 years :) 

Fixed Deposit Promotion Q3 2016

Since Bank Negara had cut the overnight policy rate (OPR), we are no longer able to enjoy high fixed deposit interest rate as previous years. I remember I have a deposit with 4.3% p.a interest rate last year, which is offered by CIMB Bank. Of course there are also some other banks that offered similar rate last year and this year (Before July). 

After the changes, the interest rate for 1 month fixed deposit went down to as low as 2.8%. I'm not good in doing investment, therefore fixed deposit has become the only way to earn "extra" income from my savings. I noticed few banks like Maybank, Public Bank, Hong Leong bank will normally launch some promotions (once or twice in a year). The rate is higher but you need to commit for at least 3 months / 6 months / 12 months. Some bank also offered higher rate, but at the same time you need to invest in their funds in order to enjoy the FD promotional rate.  

As National day is around the corner, there's FD promotion from Maybank and Public Bank.

Whup Whup Salmon day

It has been a month since my friend told me about this Whup Whup restaurant & cafe which is located in the SS 13 Subang industrial area and they converted the yarn factory into this beautiful restaurant. 

This restaurant comes with a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service. 3 of us ordered meal with salmon, price is at high side, but it's worth it because the salmon is fresh and well cooked. Do give a try to the Mohawk salmon with pineapple salsa & mash, the pineapple salsa is very appetizing :) 

They are going renovation the place from 1-17th August. I will definitely visit again after the renovation is done!

Let's Joy Cafe @ Kuchai Lama

A cozy place to hang out with friends at Let's Joy cafe. They have many choices of dessert and food as well. (As you can see from the menu). I haven't tried their food yet, but I will definitely go back to Let's Joy cafe to try the western set and french toast. 

One thing I like about Let's Joy cafe dessert is the sweetness. It's not very sweet, just nice and you won't feel too heavy to finish a bowl. 

There are 2 section in their restaurant, one of the section you can actually reserve for a party. (Birthday party, baby fullmoon...etc)

Goon Wah XO Fish Head Noodle

I'm not a fish head noodle lover but heard someone introduce Goon Wah fish head noodle which is famous in Kuchai Lama area. 

If you ask me, I prefer the lou shu fun (noodle) where the owner puts the dried shrimp, minced meat, chili, spring onion on top of the lou shu fun and you need to mix the ingredient by stir frying it in the hot clay pot using the spoon given. I love the combination of the ingredients. It is only 1 size given, not very big portion, eventually for guys can finish it, but normally customer will share among 2-3 pax, as you will order some other dishes.  

This is the fish head noodle, the noodle is some kind of thicker rice noodle, they also put tomato and yam with the soup. For me, the soup is not so sour and milky, worth to try but I don't like the yam, so do my sister.  

This is good - The fried guiness stout chicken wings. It is very well marinated and you should call this as one of your side dishes. 

They only open from Monday to Saturday, morning 8am - 4pm only. Lunch hour may be quite occupied.

GO noodle house @ da:mén USJ

I always see people queuing in front of this restaurant, always crowded no matter during weekday or weekend. And I'm lucky today to get a table without waiting long. 

This restaurant - 有間麵館 GO Noodle House serves mainly mee in soup, as well as pan mee. (soup/dry). I find the mi xian (thick mee hoon) is a very nice match with the special soup. Normally I will drink the soup along and won't feel thirsty. However it is not cheap as the cheapest set is RM 9++ depends which side dish you choose. (Eg. Grouper fish fillet with mi xian is RM 16/bowl)
